Frequently asked questions
Does AMD-3 work with my 3D printer?
Yes, AMD-3 works with most MSLA and DLP printers using 365-420nm light, including Phrozen, Anycubic, Elegoo, and Asiga. Not compatible with laser SLA or PDMS vats. Settings: ameralabs.com/3d-printing-settings
Does AMD-3 work with platinum-cure silicone?
Yes, AMD-3 is sulfur-free and won’t inhibit silicone curing. The hard surface (80-90 Shore D) can be sanded and polished before mold making. Clean with IPA, dry 20-30 minutes, and post-cure fully before molding.
Do AMD-3 prints warp or shrink?
No, AMD-3 has less than 1% shrinkage and under 0.2% water absorption. Models stay dimensionally stable for long-term storage.
Can AMD-3 be used for dental models?
Yes, but DMD-21 or DMD-31 are better choices for dedicated dental model work. AMD-3 is a general-purpose prototyping resin.
Will AMD-3 prints break if dropped?
Possibly. AMD-3 is rigid (4% strain at break), optimized for accuracy and chemical resistance, not impact survival. Use TGM-7 or XVN-50 for impact-resistant parts.
What metals can I electroplate on AMD-3?
Copper, nickel, chrome, gold, and silver. The acid-resistant surface polishes well. Your plating service can advise on prep requirements.
Can I wash AMD-3 prints with water?
No, use IPA only. Wash station: 6 minutes. Repeat if dirty. Max IPA exposure: 20min. Ultrasonic: 10 minutes max. Read the full guide here.
